THILO'S 2003 GIOS BASTARDINO

Today marked the day of a very special series of photographs that I'm gonna shoot in the near future. Ever since I had been a kid, I was pressing my nose against the windows of our local bike shop... So, to now finally get the chance to shoot some of the most impressive custom bicycles coming out of this particular shop, is an honor, to say the least!

It doesn't take much to realize, that Thilo has a weak spot for old italian bicycle manufacturers, especially gios torino. Now you can imagine that it get's more problematic with every build, to do something that has never been done before.

The Bastardino is maybe the most radical take on any classic steel bike, that has ever seen the light of day. He started with an already very special frame. The limited 25 year edition from 2003. Which means, the design of the frame is from 1978!

And what better thing to do with a rare classic then to put all of the most technical, electronical and modern parts onto it, right?!

And this is exactly what Thilo did. Enve Carbon rims, Cane Creek EE brakes (needless to say, limited colorway), Full Sram Red eTap, Ceramicspeed pully wheel and Chris King Headset.

You may wonder, why there are downtube shifters on an electrical system? - They're only for show. Simple fakes with no function at all. Thilo will tell people that they're on the bike, just in case the electronic shifting causes problems...

thanks for reading,

xoxo,

Alex
